Police Inspector Roderick Zammit, son of former acting police commissioner Ray Zammit and brother to former inspector Daniel Zammit, is being investigated for alleged business interests.
Roderick Zammit was transferred from the money laundering section of the police force when the investigation started. He is now stationed at the Hamrun police station.
The two brothers and their father were in commercial business in spite of police regulations prohibiting them from doing so.
Daniel Zammit is the subject of an inquiry ordered by prime minister Joseph Muscat about his role in the investigation of Neville Baldacchino’s murder in 2008.
When Daniel Zammit was assigned to investigate the murder, he had business connections with Joe Gaffarena, whose son-in-law Stephen Caruana was a suspect.
Daniel Zammit was board out for psychiatric reasons and given a pension, but later was given a consultancy job with Enemalta. That contract has since been terminated.
Ray Zammit is heading a new agency handling wardens.
