Some €4,500 in cash was stolen from a gambling shop in San Gwann yesterday evening, the police said this morning.

The robbery took place at 10.40pm in Naxxar Road.

Two hooded and armed men entered the shop and demanded the money from the shop assistant.

The robbery was immediately reported to the police but a search mounted by the St Julian’s police district and the Rapid Intervention Unit was to no avail.

Magistrate Marsanne Farrugia ordered an inquiry.
