The Labour Party tonight presented a replica of Dom Mintoff's monument to St George's Band Club in Cospicua.
The monument of the former Prime Minister was unveiled at Pjazza Paolino Vassallo in Cospicua on the eve of the 40th anniversary of Republic Day in December 2014.
The replica was presented a few days before the month of August, which marks both the date of birth and date of death of Dom Mintoff.
Addressing the presentation this evening, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, said that the government is following Dom Mintoff's example, by being committed to boosting the economic growth, distributing the common good fairly, creating opportunities for students and the unemployed.
He said that in a few months, the government will be the first to increase pensions.
PL's Deputy Leader Toni Abela said that given that the original monument was contributed by the public, the replica should be enjoyed by members of the band club and the public.
The band club was designed and founded by Dom Mintoff himself, with the aim of teaching music to the children of Cospicua.
At tonight's presentation, The Labour Party also launched an exclusive medal in honour of the former prime minister. The coin measures 10g and has a diameter of 26mm.
The party has only issued 96 medals, one for each year that Dom Mintoff lived.
Both the monument and the coin were designed by Noel Galea Bason.
The President of the Band Club, Joe Cassar promised that the band club will preserve the monument as best possible.
