A Syrian man was remanded in custody after he denied charges of theft from St George’s Bay.
The 47-year-old, who lives at the Marsa Open Centre was caught red handed by some tourists as he stole a bag from the beach, which contained cash and an iPhone.
The tourists chased the man towards the Institute for Tourism Studies, before he was caught by the police.
Magistrate Antonio Vella refused the defence’s request for bail and he was remanded in custody.
