SCAN Project to be set up at St Vincent De Paul tomorrow, cats to be neutered and micro chipped

Sunday, 2 August 2015, 11:49 Last update: about 10 years ago

Following pressure by Animal Guardians Malta, a cat-café will be set up at St Vincent De Paul and the area will be enclosed with fencing.  Residents will be able to visit the cats and all cats will be neutered, micro chipped and registered.

In a press statement, the association said that it visited St Vincent De Paul to feed cats and kittens there, and also to show staff and residents that the ban has been lifted and that the cats and kittens may now be fed.

It said that a number of mother cats and kittens were left to suffer from lack of food and water by the administration.

“This clearly shows that contrary to what the CEO stated to the media, the cats at SVDP were not being neutered and the situation was totally uncared for by the Administration after their meeting 3 months ago with us,” the statement said.

“On Monday, Animal Guardians Malta, with the support of the Commissioner for Animal Rights, shall make sure that this shall never happen again,” it said.
