An inmate returned to court today charged with grievously injuring a prison guard.
Shannon Leigh Williams, who stands charged with stealing luggage from the airport, pleaded not guilty to violently assaulting, resisting, threatening and disobeying the guard and another warder.
In court, Ms Williams asked Magistrate Ian Micallef to be transferred to another section of prison, possibly the forensic unit. The request has been passed on to the director of prisons.
In June, Ms Williams was charged with stealing luggage from the airport’s belt, after she gained access from outside the airport. She was later caught wearing clothes stolen from the luggage by the couple to whom the suitcase belonged to.
In court, she was also charged with contempt of court, after she was disrespectful towards the magistrate.
The case was also reported on UK media.
