The US Embassy is proud to have supported Damien Perdue, a graffiti muralist from Chicago who just completed a three-week program in Malta.

Mr Perdue painted three murals, one each at the University of Malta Cottonera Resource Center/St. Margaret College, at the Gozo College Secondary School and at the Accident & Emergency Department of Mater Dei Hospital.  Mr. Perdue visited several Skola Sajf programs to lead workshops on graffiti art.

The common theme underpinning all of Mr. Perdue's artistic creations is a celebration of diversity and inclusive societies.  During his workshops, Mr. Perdue taught basic mural skills to kids and youths of various ages.  Mr Perdue also participated in the Sliema Street Art Festival and the Malta Street Art Festival, Marsamxett Valletta.

On July 30, Parliamentary Secretary Chris Fearne, and US Ambassador Gina Abercrombie-Winstanley visited the Accident and Emergency Department at Mater Dei Hospital to view the mural created by Mr. Perdue and students from the University of Malta, G.C. Higher Secondary School and MCAST.

In brief comments, Ambassador Abercrombie-Winstanley said, "This mural certainly will cheer up the children who, through some misfortune, will spend some time here.  We hope that it somehow will relieve the agony of the parents or guardians of these young patients.  Children are the future of the world.  It is our duty to protect them and to teach them the core values of equality, respect and solidarity.  The mural we see today embodies those values."
