Wednesday, 5 August 2015, 21:53 Last update: about 10 years ago

JCI Malta is currently receiving local nominations for the prestigious annual Total Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) award. The award formally recognises and honours Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World in their chosen fields. The award recognises the young persons' own self-development, achievementsor even service to humanity in a variety of ways.

How often do we have the pleasure to cross paths with someone who stops us in our tracks for their contribution to mankind? Those moments must be treasured and shown to the world. TOYP is the perfect opportunity to do just that.

Men and women aged 18 and 40 may be nominated in one of ten categories. A set of independent and reputed judges will then select the Ten Outstanding Young Persons from Malta, who would then be nominated to be shortlisted to participate in the programme worldwide.

In the past, TOYP nominees have come from all walks of life, professions and industries. Locally, we have recognised the successes of some of Malta's most courageous entrepreneurs, academics, artists, athletes, engineers, volunteers and politicians amongst many others.

On an international level, some of the most well known TOYP winners include veteran actors and former US presidents, all for their exceptional achievements before the age of 40, namely Orson Welles and John F Kennedy. One can see a comprehensive list of past TOYP winners in the following link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outstanding_Young_Persons_of_the_World

Nominations will be accepted for each of the following ten (10) categories:

  1. Business, economic, and/or entrepreneurial accomplishment
  2. Political, legal, and/or governmental affairs
  3. Academic leadership and/or accomplishment
  4. Cultural achievement
  5. Moral and/or environmental leadership
  6. Contribution to children, world peace, and/or human rights
  7. Humanitarian and/or voluntary leadership
  8. Scientific and/or technological development
  9. Personal improvement and/or accomplishment
  10. Medical innovation

Therefore if you know of anyone whose achievements inspire you, nominate them for the TOYP award, so they will act as an inspiration for many more.

Anyone interested in nominating his or her source of inspiration, should get in touch with JCI Malta by email on [email protected] or on 99874711/79091984. More information is available on www.jci.org.mt
