Rights 4U Course

Monday, 24 August 2015, 14:59 Last update: about 10 years ago

For the 11th consecutive year the Office of the Commissioner for Children is organising its annual children's rights course Rights 4U. As in previous years, three live-in courses were organised due to the large amount of applications received. This is possible due to the financial support from the HSBC Malta Foundation.

Through this three-day initiative, a total of 120 young people aged between 13 and 15 will participate in various activities and discussions to learn about their rights. The participants develop critical thinking skills, build social ties and implement concepts such as respect.

The Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity, Dr Michael Farrugia, Mrs Helen D'Amato, Commissioner for Children and representatives from the HSBC Malta Foundation were present for the opening of the first session of the course. The theme for this year's Rights 4U Course is that of empowering young people to put a stop to violence whether it is directed towards them or to the people around them.

Mrs D'Amato will be present throughout the three-day event in order to promote more dialogue and receive feedback from the young participants themselves.

The last course will be held in Gozo between 24 and 26 August at Manresa House.
