Two teenagers were injured this afternoon after petards they had collected in a field in Munxar exploded, the police said.

The two 13-year-old boys were taken to the Gozo General Hospital. One of them, of Munxar, was reported to have sustained slight injuries while the second boy, of Xlendi, was grievously injured but is not in critical condition.

The police said the accident took place at 3pm.
