Man remanded in custody following breach of bail, claims he was inside when police came looking

A man has been remanded in custody by the courts, after police claimed he breached bail when they could not find him at his residence at night on 23 August.

They went to knock on his door at Dingli, however were told he had moved to Rabat. The court heard that there have been occasions when the accused told the police he would be at Rabat before, however he had not called that night.

The police said they checked both places that night. The accused, Annise Bejaoui, however contested the claim and said that he was in fact at home in Rabat.

Bail was revoked, and he was taken into preventative custody, the court recommended that he be held at the forensic unit at Mt Carmel.
