Man who held up stationer and spent stolen money in casino jailed for four years

A 26-year-old Cuban man who held up a stationer with a knife and spent the stolen money in a Casino has been jailed for four years.

Eliseo Carrillo Montoro admitted to stealing €2,515 during an armed robbery from a shop in Wilga Street, Paceville.

Magistrate Charmaine Galea fined the man €116.47, and ordered the man not to approach the victim John Attard Kingswell upon his release from prison, with a €2,000 fine if he breaches this condition.

The man was also made to pay the court expenses related to the case.

Inspectors Fabian Fleri and Carol Fabri prosecuted.

Lawyer Simon Micallef Stafrace was the defence lawyer.
