Wednesday, 2 September 2015, 13:45 Last update: about 10 years ago

The Maltese national team is in Florence to prepare for the Euro 2016 championship qualifier against Italy.

It will be the seventh match for Pietro Ghedin’s team. So far, Malta’s only point came in an away match against Bulgaria. On Sunday, Malta will be playing against Azerbaijan.

When Malta played against Italy last year, the azzurri had won the game 1-0.

The Maltese contingent flew to Pisa this morning, which was followed by an hour’s drive to Florence, where the match will be played tomorrow at 8.45pm.

The Maltese team will be holding a training session this evening at 5pm.

Dylan Grima of Balzan FC did not make the trip because of an injry and was replaced by Terence Vella of Qormi.
