Bulgarian youth in court after smashing his car into two parked vehicles while drunk

A Bulgarian youth was granted bail after admitting to driving his vehicle into two parked cars whilst drunk.

Teodor Hristov, 21, was charged with driving an Audi A4 into a Toyota Vitz and a Renault Megane, causing more than €3,000 in damage. The case happened in St Paul’s Bay yesterday.

He was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and not having insurance or a driving licence.

Mr Hristov pleaded guilty before Magistrate Audrey Demicoli. He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €2,000 and was ordered to sign the bail book every day at the Qawra police station. The court also imposed a curfew between 10pm and 6am. The man was also ordered to pay damages to the owners of the cars. The sentence is expected to be handed down later in the coming days.

Dr Caroline Farrugia appeared for Mr Hristov. Inspectors Nicholas Vella and Mark Mercieca prosecuted.
