On the 30th August, ELSA Malta's pilot project, the first ever 'ELSA Malta Summer Law School on Maritime Law', came to a close after a week of lectures by some of the best practitioners in the field from leading firms both on a local as well as a European level.

The 50 participants chosen from 16 different countries were presented with certificates for their attendance and participation.

This week would not have been the success it was if it weren't for Dr Max Ganado, Dr Caroline Risotto and Dr Louis Cassar Pullicino from GANADO Advocates, Dr Jean-Pie Gauci-Maistre from Gauci-Maistre Xynou, Dr Ann Fenech from Fenech & Fenech Advocates, Dr Kevin Dingli from Dingli & Dingli Law Firm and Dr Felicity Attard a lecturer at the University of Malta.

Special thanks also goes to Chris Bergedahl from Deloitte Malta, Charles Caruana from GM International Services Ltd and Peter Buhagiar from Transport Malta.

ELSA Malta was also lucky enough to have Professor David Attard, the Director of the International Maritime Law Institute who addressed the participants to end our academic programme. Thanks also goes to IMLI for their support throughout the Summer Law School and its preparation.

The organising committee of this Summer Law School made sure to maintain a balance between the academic and social aspects of this week. Participants benefitted from a jam-packed social calendar which included a boat party, cultural visits to Gozo and Valletta and a gala reception to end the great week.

ELSA Malta would also like to thank the Malta Tourism Authority for all their help with regards to the cultural visits as well as the Malta Freeport for allowing participants to visit, especially Charmaine Bertalanitz who took care of the tour.

Last but not least, ELSA Malta would like to thank it's main sponsors Deloitte, who offer help to the organization throughout the whole year, and Gauci-Maistre Xynou, who specifically sponsored the Summer Law School. Without them, this week would not have been possible.
