A 23-year-old Turk is in a critical condition after being noted unconscious in the sea in the Blue Lagoon in Comino today at about 2.15pm, the police said.

The man, who was in the company of a friend, was immediately assisted by an emergency response team and was taken to the Mgarr Harbour, where an ambulance rushed him to the Gozo General Hospital for treatment.

The victim was later certified as being in a critical condition.

Duty Magistrate appointed an inquiry into the case.

Officers from the Victoria Police Station are investigating the case.
