President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca spoke about ways to reach the goals of sustainable development that will help eradicate poverty and hunger.
Speaking at the United Nations interactive dialogue summit, Dr Coleiro Preca urged the world to take active action to eliminate poverty which, she said, is a result of political, social and economic injustice.
The world’s resources are enough to provide food and shelter to 12 billion people, and yet there are poverty issue in a world that has a population of just seven billion people. In spite of this, many people are dying of hunger in Africa, South America and the Caribbean, while the number of people living in poverty in Europe will reach 100 million in 2020.
