There is an oasis in Tanzania that offers refuge to many. Every morning many people from remote areas flow into this oasis to avail themselves of its services. This oasis is called Makiungu Hospital and is run by a congregation of nuns called "Medical Missionaries of Mary". Sisters Maria Borda (a Maltese nun) and Cornelia Udoka run the hospital like clockwork despite the lack of modern equipment and funds, working incessantly.
The hospital, besides treating the patients’ ailments, also offers words and love of God in abundance as well as hope for the destitute to help ease the plight of the indigent inhabitants of the surrounding villages.
The nurses and doctors as well as all the other employees who work there contribute fully with love and dedication. There is also another congregation of nuns called The Holy Spirit Sisters who also occupy positions in the hospital. Sister Martina Wanda works in the administration department and is in charge of purchasing, transport as well as maintenance, and from what I experienced during my stay there I can declare that she truly has a full day.
To continue this humanitarian undertaking efficiently the hospital requires funds. Little efforts are needed to cure ailments which may lead to permanent disabilities if not tended to in time; sometimes they can even lead to death. With our help this oasis can continue to exist and flourish and provide the services that these children of God need.
Help keep this oasis alive with an abundance of goodwill that generates life by making a donation to Sister Maria Borda (Medical Missionaries of Mary).
