Finance Ministry website shows wrong document, classic cars measure not included in budget

The Finance Ministry said today that by mistake the working document on the budget for a time was uploaded on the ministry website, and this document included measures that were not listed in the official budget speech.

This document, of which a small number of copies was printed, was withdrawn within a short time.

The measures the government introduced or is planning to introduce are only those mentioned in the budget speech, the ministry said.

This meant that the measure involving classic cars – in which it is said that they are to be driven only during the weekend – had not been included in the budget speech because it was not accepted by the government.

The document also includes social measures on which some technical work needs to be completed, and because of this they were not included.

There are also administrative decisions, such as the granting of the Cafe Premier to the Valletta local council, that are not budget measures but which the government will confirm in the days to come.

The ministry thanked all its workers and other departments for their work leading up to the budget.

The measure on classic cars had been lambasted by two federations, the Vintage car federation and the Motor Sport Federation.
