Saturday, 28 November 2015, 15:47 Last update: about 9 years ago

At the Radisson Blu Golden Sands Resort, the President’s Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society and Eko-Skola organized ‘A Voice for the Commonwealth Child. Today’s event brings together a story told in traditional shadow puppetry together with a performance by young child actors representing three main concerns: environment, bullying and inclusion, led by the “Commonwealth Child”.

One third of the population of the Commonwealth is made up of children. Last week in Malta EkoSkola, together with the President’s Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society hosted a Children’s Summit where children expressed their wishes and views for a Commonwealth where they can be heard. It was the wish of President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca that children in the Commonwealth exert their right to make their voice heard, and that subsequently ‘we, as adults, have the duty to listen to what children say and act accordingly’.

Children have prepared a child’s paper game containing their Declaration for distribution to all those Heads of Government and distinguished guests attending this event.

The Declaration can be viewed at the President’s Foundation website www.pfws.org.mt.

Present for this event were Prime Minister of Malta Joseph Muscat, and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau.
