Midwifery services provided by government to continue, 'business as usual'

Monday, 14 December 2015, 08:30 Last update: about 9 years ago

Parliamentary Secretary Justyne Caruana has given assurances that the midwifery service provided by government will “keep going, business as usual”.

A recent report in The Times of Malta said that HealthMark would no longer provide midwifery services as of next month. The Group had taken over from the MMDNA, the organisation that used to handle the midwifery service on 9 November, and has a contract with government to provide free community care to patients identified by the CommCare Assessment Unit as needing such assistance.

This sparked doubts and concerns that midwifery services were about to stop, however this does not seem to be the case.

A spokesperson from Justyne Caruana’s Parliamentary Secretariat explained that the HealthMark service would indeed continue and will not be stopped.

HealthMark offers home care and community care, including live-in care, respite care and housing support.
