Members of the Malta Canoe Polo Club, joined members from the SeaKats, Dragon Boat Malta and WaveSki Malta in this year's edition of the Paddle for l-Istrina last Sunday.

The aim of the event was to collect money which would be later presented to l-istrina. Riding at the bow of a canoe, Father Christmas was joined by about another 30 kayakers who left the Seakats club at Valletta and paddled across Marsamxetto Hoarbour to the Sliema Ferries.

Here a crew of 12 rowers from Dragon Boat Malta joined the paddlers, and all went around the Sliema waterfront as spectators looked on from the promenade. At the end of the paddle, the members of the Canoe Polo Club gave the spectators a taste of canoepolo playing when they organised an impromptu 'possession game'. Meanwhile the Dragon Boat crew paddled their boat around the Sliema Ferries.

At the end of the game, the kayakers returned to their respective clubs in Valletta, Manoel Island and Tal-Qroqq National Pool. The next event organised by the Malta Canoe Polo Club is the Xmas Tournament which will be held on Monday 21st December at the National Pool, Tal-Qroqq.

The first game starts at 8:15pm.
