A suspected drink-driver was not so wise when he tried to hide from police - in a nativity scene, The Telegraph reports.

The motorist sought refuge among hay bales and the baby Jesus after the car he was driving crashed into a metal barrier in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire.

The driver hid in the Nativity scene with the hay and baby Jesus as he tried to give officers the run around in Tadcaster 

He attempted to hide from officers in a large shed, which was housing a nativity, around 200 metres from the site of the Mini Cooper smash on the A659.

However, North Yorkshire police said they located the suspect and arrested him.
