Malta finished in 11th place among 23 countries tested as places for retirement in 2016, the annual global retirement index shows.
All 23 countries in the Index are terrific retirement destinations, according to the report, as proven by the many expats who have chosen to settle in each.
Panama topped the list, scoring 93.5 points, followed by Ecuador and Mexico.
Apart from Malta, another four European nations were tested, with Spain and Portugal found to be marginally better than Malta, while Italy and France finished further down in the table.
