Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovi, discussed a number of topics today, including Maltese energy investment in the southeastern European state.
Dr Muscat said investment by a joint venture formed between Enemalta and Shanghai Electric in a major wind farm would provide 3% of renewable energy generated in Montenegro.
Malta, he said, was also establishing itself as an international training centre in tourism and health thanks to the ITS and the Medical School.
Following talks between the two leaders, the energy ministers of the two countries, Konrad Mizzi and Vladimir Kavaric, signed a declaration of cooperation.
Dr Muscat also said Malta backed Montenegro’s EU membership bid once all requirements had been achieved. Dr Muscat made similar comments on Serbia yesterday during a visit to that country.
Dr Muscat also met the Speaker of Parliament in Montenegro, Ranko Krivokapić.
