Two local wardens are recovering at home after being slightly injured while on duty this morning.

A press release issued by the Parliamentary Secretary for local government Stefan Buontempo said that Mr Buontempo himself made contact with the wardens in order to ensure that they were not badly injured.

He wished them a speedy recovery and praised the dedication and hard work of wardens across Malta who are contributing fully to reform local enforcement.

The incident took place at around 4:45am at Mikiel Anton Vassalli Street, St Julian's. Two wardens suffered slight injuries after being hit by a vehicle. The vehicle was being driven by a man of 25 from Birkirkara. The wardens were reporting on a collision which had occurred earlier next to the roundabout at the end of Mikiel Anton Vassalli Street.
