Parliamentary Secretary or Planning and Simplification of Administrative Processes Michael Falzon has asked the Speaker to investigate how the Times of Malta received details, including the conclusions of the report published by the National Auditor’s Office which is to be tabled in Parliament this Wednesday.

In a personal letter sent to the Speaker this evening in Parliament, Dr Falzon also asked the Auditor General to investigate, making reference to the article published on January 16.

According to the media report, the NAO investigation has been concluded and has found that the deal breached expropriation rules, allowing the government to nullify the deal.

Dr Farrugia read out that the letter in which it was said that the leaking of such information put into question the dignity of Parliament, as well as the work carried out by the NAO.

Dr Falzon requested the Speaker to investigate the incident before tabling the report. Dr Farrugia said that he had not yet seen the report.

This is the second investigation to be concluded, the former having been conducted by the Internal Audit and Investigations Department, which falls under the Office of the Prime Minister. The conclusions of this investigation have not been made available to the public however.
