The Malta Developers Association today welcomed in the most positive way the Prime Minister’s decision to conduct a fundamental reform of the Department of Lands and Government Properties by creating an Authority to lead this most important sector in the administration of the country.

The MDA said that it has been insisting on a reform in this Department for many years.

In a statement following the Auditor General’s report on the expropriation of a share of a property in Old Mint Street, Valletta, the MDA said it is of the opinion that, even if it took a long time to be concluded, thanks to the Auditor’s report on the case and its inevitable consequences, democracy in the country has been strengthened in the areas of transparency and accountability. MDA hopes that this case will act as a lesson to everyone that there is no room for abuse in the governance of this country and whoever abuses will not get off lightly.
