Maltese player Steven Camilleri was the top-scorer at the European Waterpolo Championships, which came to an end in Serbia this evening.
Camilleri, who plays for Neptunes and Ortigia, scored 21 goals in the seven games Malta played. Malta scored a total of 40 goals. It was the first time that Malta took part at this level, and finished in 15th place after beating Turkey on Friday.
Camilleri was also the player who scored most penalties in the tournament, six.
The final of the competition saw Serbia beat Montenegro 10-8. Serbia were chasing Montenegro for three sessions but pulled away in the final quarter to be crowned champions.
In the match for third place, Hungary beat Greece 13-10.
