Dates have been set for the two court cases filed against Marco Gaffarena, this newsroom has learnt.

The first case will be heard before Madam Justice Anna Felice on 10th March. Mr Justice Joseph R Micallef will try the second case on 9th February.

The court proceedings were filed by the Prime Minister in an attempt to recoup the lands transferred to Gaffarena in the expropriation of a palazzo in Old Mint Street, Valletta. The court has reportedly been asked to revoke all transfers made in terms of two expropriation contracts, and to return assets to the government.

The government had paid €1.65 million for part ownership of the Valletta property that Gaffarena had bought for a fraction of the price not long before.

The Courts have also been asked to issue a warrant of seizure for funds already paid and a warrant to stop Gaffarena from transferring those properties given to him by the government.

PL MP Michael Falzon recently resigned following a National Audit Office Investigation into the Gaffarena dealings
