Two passengers are in critical condition after the cars they were in were involved in a traffic accident in St Andrews on Saturday evening, the police said..

The accident took place at 8.45pm. A Fiat Punto driven by a 41-year-old of Zabbar and a Mazda 121 driven by a 53-year-old of Pembroke were involved in the crash.

Two passengers in the Fiat, a 52-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man, were seriously injured and were found to be in critical condition.

The Punto driver was slightly injured while the other driver was seriously hurt, the police said.
