The Marsa junction works will be split into two phases, Government MP Joe Mizzi told parliament. Answering a parliamentary question put by Government Whip Godfrey Farrugia, Mr Mizzi said the first phase will aim to ease traffic from the airport to Triq Garibaldi towards Valletta. The second phase will aim to east traffic going in the opposite direction, as well as the junction near the Addolorata Cemetery. The EU has accepted the first phase of works and will be financing 85% of the cost at an estimated €38.8 million. The project is currently being discussed by MEPA and preparations for tenders for further studies are currently being drawn up.
