Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr George W. Vella is in Amsterdam to take part in the traditional 'Gymnich' Meeting that brings together EU Foreign Ministers in an informal setting. Minister Vella will be hosting his colleagues in a similar meeting during the Maltese Presidency term in the first half of 2017.

Over the coming two days, ministers will be discussing issues related to the EU Global Strategy for Foreign and Security Policy and the recent developments concerning Iran. One of the traditional highlights of this Meeting is the inclusion of Foreign Ministers hailing from Candidate Countries in a number of sessions.

The issue of migration and the resulting scenario on the Western Balkan migratory route is expected to feature prominently in this broadened format.
