Wednesday, 10 February 2016, 20:08 Last update: about 9 years ago

A pregnant policewoman was assaulted by a man who claimed to a be a warden, the Police Officers Union said.

The man was accompanied by his wife and child. He refused to give way in a traffic situation and at one point left his car to insult the police officer. The officer showed him her badge but the man replied with more insults.

She told him that she was eight months pregnant but she was attacked again when she started to use her mobile phone as the man believed that she was taking pictures of him.

The man said that he was a warden and did not care about the police force. The police officer said that the man’s wife tried to intervene to calm him down but he would have none of it.

When he returned to his car she used the mobile to call for assistance, and the man was once again aggressive in her regard, banging on her car.
