Three workers in a Sliema seafront restaurant kitchen were taken to hospital after a fire broke out in the kitchen, police said.

The three are: a Maltese, 36 years old, resident in Zebbug Gozo; a Chinese man, 51 years old, resident at Msida and a Russian woman, 30 years old, resident in St Julian's.

Later on, the Chinese man was certified as having suffered light injuries while the other two suffered serious injury.

Police investigations are ongoing.
