Three men and a woman were taken to hospital this morning after a three-car crash in Burmarrad.
The police said that one woman was seriously injured while the other three were slightly hurt.
The accident happened when there was an impact between two cars travelling towards Mosta and another going in the opposite direction towards St Paul's Bay.
A Mitsubishi Shogun driven towards Mosta by a 36-year-old man of St Paul's Bay was involved in a crach with a Ford Transit and Peugeot 309 being driven by a 40-year-old woman of St OPaul's Bay and a 59-year-old man of Mosta respectively.
A 51-year-old woman of Naxxar was a passenger in the Ford Transit. She suffered grievous injuries, the police said.
A huge traffic jam has developed in this stretch of road as a result of the accident.
