Philip Rizzo, who quit the Employment and Training Corporation as chairman following a controversy over a comment posted on Facebook, was given a job as chief executive officer of the Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools.

Mr Rizzo had resigned after The Malta Independent had broken the story about sexist comments posted beneath a post of one of his subordinates. He had written that Olivia Farrugia is the only ETC head of department who had the three Bs – “brains, boobs and balls”.

His comment had been criticised as being sexist and, last March, he had resigned the post only to be appointed CEO of the Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools, an entity that falls under the responsibility of the same minister, Education Minister Evarist Bartolo.

The appointment was given on 11 April, and he was appointed as a person of trust on a contract for one year. His remuneration is of €73,000 per year, car expenses and telephone services.

Minister Bartolo had criticised Mr Rizzo for his “out of place comments” about Ms Farrugia, and Mr Rizzo had later apologised before resigning from the ETC, giving no reason.
