A 97-year-old man lost his life this morning after he was hit by a vehicle in Rabat.

The incident took place at around 08.30am in Vjal il-Haddiem.

The man was hit by a Toyota Townace van which was being driven by a 48-year-old man, who is also from Rabat.

The elderly man was taken to hospital and found to be in critical condition. He later passed away.

Duty Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech has launched an inquiry. Police investigations are ongoing.
