Preparations well under way for FinanceMalta’s 9th Annual Conference

FinanceMalta will be holding its 9th Annual Conference on the 26th May 2016, an event which has now become the most important financial services experience in Malta. Attendance at the conference, entitled "Sustaining Growth through Innovation" continues to grow annually, and is expected to attract over 350 local and foreign delegates.

This year's conference, which will be preceded by a networking cocktail reception on the 25th May, will present a line-up of distinguished foreign and local speakers including Mr Dario Scannapieco, Vice-President, European Investment Bank who will discuss the topic of The Role of the European Investment Bank in supporting financial innovation; and Ms Marianne Scicluna, Director General of the Malta Financial Services Authority who will talk about The Evolving role of European Regulators.

Other distinguished speakers will include will include Malta's Prime Minister, Hon Dr Joseph Muscat as well as the Hon, Professor Edward Scicluna, Minister for Finance) and Mr Matthew Hawley, Senior Manager, PWC, London.

Mr Ignazio Angeloni Member of the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank, will address the Single Supervisory Mechanism, and this will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Mr. Mike Imeson Contributing Editor, The Banker. Mr Julian Skan, Managing Director Accenture, London will speak about Fintech Innovation, whilst other topics covered will be the importance of cyber security, as well as the role of the arbiter in consumer protection.

Three workshop panels will also present very topical subjects such as Pensions, Securitisation as well as Private Equity and Venture Capital.

Chairman of FinanceMalta Mr. Kenneth Farrugia said "The financial services industry is one that is changing rapidly with an ongoing transformation of the traditional banking, finance and commerce models. This year's conference addresses some of the challenges and opportunities presented by this fast changing landscape, including those that are technology lead."
