President Marie Louise Coleiro stressed that Malta must keep working in order to turn active ageing into a way of life.
She attended the Nazzareno Vassallo prize ceremony, organised by CareMalta at the Verdala Palace.
Delivering her speech, she said that this prize shows that there is widespread understanding at community level on active ageing.
She spoke of the need to continue encouraging the elderly to remain active within society.
The prize was won by Ġorġ Agius, Who was chosen from among 16 nominees. He is 90 years old and for the past 65 years has visited hospitalised persons, spreading a positive message.
