MFSA issues warning about website carrying misleading information

Monday, 16 May 2016, 09:53 Last update: about 9 years ago

The Malta Financial Services Authority said it has become aware of a website http://alphacmarkets.com which the MFSA said is falsely stating that Alphacmarkets Europe is licensed by the MFSA.

This entity is also misleading the public by using the trade name of a legitimate authorised company by the UK Financial Conduct Authority. The MFSA therefore alerts the public, in Malta and abroad, to refrain from undertaking any business or transactions with the above-mentioned entity.

The MFSA would like to remind consumers of financial services not to enter into any financial services transaction unless they have ascertained that the entity with whom the transaction is being made is authorised to provide such services by the MFSA or another reputable financial services regulator.

A list of entities licensed by the MFSA is available from the MFSA and can be viewed on the official website of the MFSA at http://www.mfsa.com.mt/pages/licenceholders.aspx.
