Novartis Pharma celebrates seventh annual Community Partnership Day in Malta

Monday, 23 May 2016, 14:16 Last update: about 9 years ago

On 5 May, in celebration of the company's annual Community Partnership Day (CPD), Novartis Malta organized a day packed with fun activities for elderly people from various care homes across Malta and for the children from Puttinu Cares Foundation.

At Novartis, CPD is the annual day of volunteering which gives associates the opportunity to dedicate their work day, to volunteer in the local communities where they live and work uniting associates across the globe from all Novartis divisions for one common cause reflecting on the company's long-standing commitment to help those in need.

This year Novartis Pharma Malta partnered with the Department for Elderly and Community Care and Puttinu Cares Foundation.  Thirty elderly people from Floriana, Msida and Mosta care homes and several children from Puttinu Cares Foundation enjoyed a day by the sea at the Radisson Golden Sands participating in creative games and pizza making together with Novartis associates.

"We at the Department for the Elderly and Community Care (DECC) would like to congratulate Novartis in organising their annual Community Partnership Day in which the whole team partners with local organisations to carry out voluntary work in the community." said Mr George Pavia.  One of the elderly ladies said that for her that day was the highlight of her year and that she will never forget it because she felt alive and happy.  Angele Cuschieri from Puttinu Cares Foundation also had words of praise about the event: "Puttinu Cares aims to give a holistic approach to the children afflicted with cancer and their families.  We are honoured to have worked with Novartis again this year to alleviate the suffering of these children.  The children are always enthusiastic about the events organised by Novartis."  One of the mothers also said that it was fantastic to see the kids play and have fun in such a lovely environment while allowing parents to relax for a few hours but still being with their kids.

CPD is a fun and rewarding experience that can give a much-needed boost to nonprofit organizations supporting patients and our communities.

Ivan Micallef, General Manager of Novartis Malta and Cyprus, is very proud of the outcome of this event.  "CPD is an integral part of who we are and our culture at Novartis Pharma Malta.  It is always a fantastic sensation seeing the whole team wholeheartedly volunteer and toil throughout the day with fun and excellent camaraderie.  The impact of the CPD efforts on the organizations we support has always been strong and this year was no less.  It is so gratifying when administrators and parents alike thank us for making such a personal difference.  We do our part in giving but I believe that what we receive in return is way more and quite priceless."
