General Workers Union, which represents the majority of the employees at the engineering and ground handling section of AirMalta, has denied media reports claiming that the company will be out sourcing non-core operations. In a press release, the GWU said that it is still waiting for discussions to be held about the future of the AirMalta employees.

GWU said that the government and the company never indicated that any decisions of the sort were taken. "But we are committed to secure the best possible conditions for the employees."

"GWU's vision for AirMalta is for it to grow stronger and we will never allow for employees to lose their jobs," the statement concluded.
