No plans for a fixed-wing or helicopter service between Malta and Gozo, focus on tunnel

The plans for a fixed-wing or a helicopter service between Malta and Gozo are put on the back burner as the Ministry for Gozo appears to have no updates on the possibility of introducing these services in the future.

Replying to a Parliamentary Question by Nationalist MP Chris Said, Minister for Gozo Anton Refalo said that his Ministry is currently focusing on the possible building of a tunnel between the two islands or the setting up of a fast ferry. He said talks with Transport Malta are still underway.

The Minister explained that the government is currently holding talks with Malta Enterprise for the possibility of installing an alternative fibre-optic cable between Malta and Gozo. "We are willing to improve the inaccessibility issue between the two islands as inherited by the previous administration," the Minister said.
