Work to remove what’s left of the Barracuda Restaurant balcony that collapsed lask week in under way in St Julian's.
A ship with a crew of four men and a diver is currently docked near the site of the incident which last week shocked the country. Two men were then lowered right next to the balcony by a crane to get a closer look before further work continues.
The balcony collapsed on Monday 16 May in the evening, injuring eight French tourists. A 46-year-old woman for a time was in critical condition while a 46 year-old man suffered grievous injuries.
Wind proved to be a slight obstacle as both the structure and the men swayed as they were hanging above the sea. The workers hooked the balcony's skeleton at four points and used a buzz saw to detach it from the building.
