Watch: Two Libyans charged with murdering Colombian, remanded in custody

Two Libyans today were charged with murdering a Colombian national in Paceville last week. They did not seek bail and were remanded in custody,

Zyad Mohamed Drebeka and Ahmed Rasem Franka, both Libyan nationals aged 23 and 29 years were charged with murdering Colombian national Carlos Augusto following an argument on 19 May, in St Julian’s.

Augusto, 37 of Swieqi, suffered grievous injuries and was taken to hospital in critical condition on Thursday following what the police said was an argument with two other men. He died on Saturday.

Lawyers Veronique Dalli and Arthur Azzopardi represented the accused. The prosecuting officer was Inspector Keith Arnaud.

The two accused men were arrested in an apartment in Gharb.

Franka, 30, has a pending court case involving an attempted rape of a Swedish woman in January.
