The Maltese Government and China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in cultural exchanges. The agreement was signed between Minister for Culture Owen Bonnici, and the Deputy Prime Minister of China.
The Chinese delegation said it is very much looking forward to strengthen the relationship between the two countries. They invited the Minister for an official visit to China.
On the other hand, Minister Owen Bonnici said that the collaboration between the two countries has increased drastically in the recent years. Dr Bonnici said that the Valletta Capital of Culture in 2018 will now also have a touch of China. The collaboration, in fact, also encourages intercultural exchanges between countries participating in the EU's Capital of Culture and those Asian countries participating in similar initiatives.
V18 Chairman Jason Micallef said that this MOU will increase the collaboration between Maltese and Chinese artists and described it as a positive move forward.
