Minister for the Economy and Investment Chris Cardona and the Parliamentary Secretary for Persons with Disability Justyne Caruana visited the Childcare Centre which opened two weeks ago in Xewkija.

Magic Steps Childcare Centre was set up for parents who have children of up to three years old. The Minister said that this centre is a particular one because it is targeted for those parents who work at the Industrial Estate in Xewkija.

Malta Industrial Parks has offered the building to help the Gozitan families. Minister Cardona explained that the free childcare measure was one of the initiatives which helped the country to reach records in economic growth and the lowest rate of unemployment in years.

According to recent statistics, in Gozo there are some 547 people registering for work benefits, while in the previous administration this number reached 742.
