2015 shows a drastic increase in comparison to what was a gradual annual increase in costs to maintain drug rehabilitation programmes since 2010. This was apparent in figures tabled in Parliament by Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity, Michael Farrugia in answer to a Parliamentary Question asked by PN MP Claudio Grech.
Figures in the table reproduced below show that the total number of money spent on rehab programmes went up by roughly €10,000 - €15,000 per year between 2012 and 2014, until it suddenly went up by just over €104,000 between 2014 and 2015.
