Two sailors have been rescued by the Armed Forces of Malta in two separate accidents on Sunday and this morning.
The AFM Operations Centre received a distress call late yesterday afternoon from a foreign registered fishing vessel 50nm off the Maltese coast. A Tunisian national who claimed to be suffering from severe chest pain was evacuated by helicopter and taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.
In a separate case, early this morning the AFM Operations Centre dispatched a helicopter to evacuate a Libyan sailor off a fishing vessel. He was taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from general exhaustion and bleeding.
